Pretty Plants Turn into Delicious Monsters.....

There is such a craze at the moment for all sorts of succulent gardens. For those with

gardening abilities it is awesome the variety available. On the other hand, if you don't have a garden and not a green ability to call your own... you might just be wasting your money.

There is a real danger that most of the plants bought from various people or places will slowly wither and die. That is if you don't have the know how or savvy to keep them beautiful.

In particular I love the whole broken pot gardens that seem to be popping up everywhere. At closer inspection I cringe with some of the plants that have been placed in small spaces to make it look lush and healthy. Now I am not saying that they are not, but I am aware how big these plants can get in a short space of time. Your broken pot garden will start to look out of proportion and simply an untidy mess.

I am definitely not a hater for anyone trying to earn a living in these hard times. In retrospect we need to be cognizant of the monster that is being created right in our midst. When we sell or give or donate to anyone, try and educate them as to how to take care of the item. Additionally, we should not be making a pretty picture of what we are selling to make a quick buck. Six months down the line, our reputations will be in the dust, with the dead plant.

Succulents and cacti of all sorts are truly beautiful, but do need to be taken care of. For those that think that getting a "hardy" type plant means they can forget it for a week or so and then give it some water to keep going will become sadly mistaken.

These plants may last for quite some time, but the joy of seeing them as they are supposed to be, will be lost forever.
