Stress Up - Creativity Down

We've all heard the saying that stress is the silent killer. What I don't believe we hear enough is what it actually kills (besides the body).

Your natural ability to bounce back and get your groove on, very much diminishes when stress walks in the door. Stress is not something that is easily switched off, even though we try like crazy.

I am all for putting it in a box and throwing it in the ocean. When the chips are down though there are days that the stupid box just keeps floating back to shore.

Admitting that we are stressed should not be detrimental to the relationships that we have. As friends, we need to admit that it makes us a bit nervous on how to deal it. At the same time, we should endeavor to be honest to say "I don't know how to help you, but I am hear if you need me". Do ensure that you are, even if it is to say, sorry I can't help right now.

The sad part is that when the stress becomes unmanageable, it virtually becomes impossible to think of alternatives to improve matters.

What is your back up plan....? Do you even have one.....?

I am not suggesting a chest full of money hidden in the basement. What I am saying is, if you had to lose your job today, what can you do to ensure you don't fall apart?

Is there a beach you can go and walk on to clear your mind, to quell your fears. Do you have friends who you can sit and have a glass of wine with and just cry.

Notice I said a glass of wine. Getting plastered, just doesn't solve the problem. Albeit at the time it probably feels like it.

Today, I endeavor to start working on my back up plan...... I challenge you to do the same.
